Right Shine Auto Care ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the rights you have under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act ("PIPEDA"). It applies to rightshine.ca and any service we provide to customers in Bruce and Huron County, Ontario.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Name, email address, phone number, and service address from our online booking form (powered by Jobber).
  • Vehicle details — make, model, year, colour, and condition.
  • Service location, service type, and any special requests or preferences.
  • Communications you send us by SMS, email, phone, or web form (kept for service history and dispute resolution).
  • Payment information is processed by Jobber and our payment processors — we do not store full card numbers on our systems.

Information collected automatically

  • Standard website analytics: IP address, browser type, pages visited, referrers, and approximate location derived from your IP.
  • Device information such as device type, operating system, and device identifier.
  • The service location you give us is provided by you — we do not GPS-track customer vehicles.

2. How we use your information

  • Service delivery — confirming appointments, performing the service, and following up.
  • Communication — appointment reminders, follow-ups, review requests, and responses to inquiries.
  • SMS — appointment confirmations, reminders, follow-ups, and (with consent) review requests and promotions.
  • Business operations — analytics, service improvement, fraud prevention, and internal recordkeeping.
  • Marketing — review requests and promotional offers you have opted into.
  • Legal compliance — tax records, business documentation, and responding to lawful requests.

3. Legal basis (PIPEDA)

  • Contract performance — necessary to deliver the service you booked.
  • Consent — for marketing, review requests, and optional communications.
  • Legal obligation — for business records and tax compliance.
  • Legitimate interest — for analytics, security, and fraud prevention.

4. Who we share information with

We share the minimum information required with trusted service providers:

  • Jobber — booking management, invoicing, customer records, and payment processing.
  • Quo (OpenPhone) — SMS communications, call handling, and voicemail.
  • Google — Google Business Profile, analytics, and business listings.
  • Make — workflow automation for review requests and appointment reminders (triggers SMS via Quo).
  • Vercel / Lovable — website hosting and limited hosting analytics.
  • Government and regulators — where required by law.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. SMS communications & consent

By providing your phone number in our booking form or by text, you consent to receive SMS from Right Shine Auto Care about your service.

  • Transactional messages — appointment confirmations, reminders (about 24 hours before service), and follow-ups (1–5 days after service). Always sent.
  • Marketing messages — review requests and promotional offers, monthly or less.
  • Reply STOP MKT to stop marketing only and continue receiving appointment reminders.
  • Reply STOP to stop all messages — you will no longer receive appointment reminders.
  • Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply. Right Shine Auto Care is not responsible for carrier charges.

6. Data retention

  • Service records: 7 years (tax and business requirement).
  • SMS communications: retained for service history and dispute resolution.
  • Website analytics: up to 12 months.
  • Marketing contacts: kept until you unsubscribe, then deleted within 30 days.
  • You may request deletion at any time, subject to records we must legally keep.

7. Data security

We use encrypted communications, strong passwords, limited team access, and regular security reviews. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

8. Your rights (PIPEDA)

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct or update inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention).
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications.
  • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

10. Children's privacy

Our services are intended for customers 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we discover we have collected information from a minor, we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated by email or on our website. Continued use of our services means you accept the updated policy.
